Sustainability
The vast majority of historic buildings have been in constant use for hundreds of years and so are by their nature sustainable.
In 2023 we joined the Better Business Act coalition because we believe the world needs every business at its best - creating good jobs, helping to fix pressing problems and adding value to society.
The Better Business Act will amend section 172 of The Companies Act to ensure that company directors are responsible for advancing the interests of shareholders alongside those of wider society and the environment.
Through carefully considered repair and maintenance, we can ensure that these buildings (which make up 35% of UK housing stock) continue to be sustainable, useful and valued.
Locality is important to us in the projects we undertake, the craftspeople we employ and the materials we use.
We aim to procure timber (typically oak) from UK sources and as close to our projects as possible. We source other forestry products (laths, shingles etc) from local woodland, managed using traditional coppice craft which promotes and supports biodiversity.
We try to work on a diverse range of projects and are always keen to be involved in those that have a positive community impact.
